July 5, 2022

TRAVERSE CITY, MI — Helping individuals reach their sobriety goals through workforce development and Drug and Sobriety Court resources will be the focus of a community conversation event July 19 in Traverse City. The event is being held at 6:00 pm in the McGuire Community Room at the Traverse Area District Library (TADL), 610 Woodmere Ave. Participants will also be able to join the community conversation via Zoom.
The event is being presented by Northwest Michigan Works!, the 86th District Court, and TADL.

Northwest Michigan Works! provides job seekers with career counseling, paid training, and other services to support someone as they attain and sustain work. They will share how they are assisting individuals and their families who have been impacted by Substance Use Disorder through workforce development and how employers can contribute to a person's recovery.

The 86th District Court’s Drug & Sobriety Court offers two voluntary, intensively supervised programs designed to help individuals with Substance Use Disorder, using a team approach. The ending goal is to help the individual to regain a healthy lifestyle.

The event will also include local resource organizations that will have representatives available to answer questions and offer handouts. Registration and more information are available at tadl.org/events or call 231-932-8502. Individual visits with local resource organizations will begin at 6:00 pm. The presentation starts at 6:30pm. There will also be time for questions after the presentations.

The professionals at Networks Northwest help our City Council, Planning Commission, and staff make thoughtful decisions to ensure our community is sustainable and resilient for many years to come.
