TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The Networks Northwest Executive Committee has unanimously endorsed a candidate to be the new Chief Executive Officer at Networks Northwest. The committee is recommending that the full Networks Board approve the hiring of Terry Vandercook for the leadership position at the organization which provides workforce, business, and community development services in the 10 counties of northwest Lower Michigan. Vandercook has accepted the position pending a vote by the full board later this month.
Vandercook served as Chief Program Officer at Networks Northwest until February of 2022 before leaving for a position with a northern Michigan company that helps agricultural businesses meet their workforce needs. Prior to his past position at Networks Northwest, Vandercook was a Business Development Manager for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. He also had a 20-year career in the United States Air Force.
Vandercook is tentatively scheduled to begin working as CEO on September 26. He replaces former Networks Northwest CEO, Matt McCauley, who left the organization for a position with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The Networks Northwest team did a great job to help the City of Charlevoix and Charlevoix Township collaborate in addressing housing challenges in our community. They facilitated dialogue with Planning Commissioners, community stakeholders, and municipal officials to develop a plan for cohesive zoning in areas of growth for our two governments. Further, they were able to pinpoint the challenges in each unit and propose changes that would be beneficial all around. Together, we believe we'll be better prepared for housing developments and job growth in our region. We look forward to working with them on future projects!
