Funding Available for Workforce Training In Northwest Michigan

NORTHWEST LOWER, MI – Organizations in northwest Lower Michigan can now apply for grants to provide training for local employers and individuals. The State of Michigan has allocated over $135,000 to implement the Michigan Workforce Training Center Equipment Grant Program in northwest Lower Michigan. Networks Northwest in one of fifteen agencies in the state that will be awarding the grants.

“Access to a quality, skilled workforce is fundamental to any region’s long term economic viability,” said Matt McCauley, CEO of Networks Northwest. “Networks Northwest is proud to partner with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to provide more opportunities for local businesses to meet the employment needs of today and the future.”

The grants, up to $90,000, will be for employer-driven workforce training programs provided for qualified employers and individuals. Workforce training includes, but is not limited to:

·         Talent enhancement

·         Increasing worker productivity

·         Development of workforce skills

·         Leadership and management training

·         Worker retention

The application window to apply for grant funds is open from Monday, January 10, 2022 – Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. EST. More information and a link to apply for the grants is available on the MEDC website at, michiganbusiness.org/workforce-training-grant.
