Workers Enroll in Apprenticeship Program With Help From Northwest Michigan Works


30 workers in northern Michigan are beginning the path toward careers as fiber optic line workers and Northwest Michigan Works! is helping. The workers enrolled in the Fiber Optic Line Worker apprenticeship program being offered by Wolf Line Construction. The company has locations in Boyne City, South Carolina, and Washington and operates in partnership with its clients to provide fiber optic and energized space installations, throughout the U.S. The academic provider for the four-year apprenticeship program is Northwest Lineman College, located in California, Idaho, Florida, and Texas.

Northwest Michigan Works! is helping coordinate training programs for numerous employers in the region including occupations in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction, administrative, multi-media, and others. Businesses of all types and sizes may develop a Registered Apprenticeship customized to meet their specific workforce needs. Northwest Michigan Works! provides technical assistance and administrative support for Registered Apprenticeships, including development and implementation guidance.
