PRI Mentoring Breakfast 2012

The Traverse Bay Poverty Reduction Initiative's (PRI) annual Mentoring Breakfast attracted about 70 people who are connected to or interested in mentoring programs in northern Michigan. The program at the breakfast focused on a training model developed to help all mentoring and service organizations better understand and respond to our neighbors. Goodwill's street outreach coordinator, Ryan Hannon, led the training. He talked about some of the do's and don'ts of mentoring, the need to establish boundaries for mentors, and the importance of understanding the culture of poverty.

Our Township greatly benefits from Network Northwest's experience, depth of knowledge and understanding. Because they work with so many diverse communities in our ten-county region they understand the local land-use issues and are already working on solutions by the time we realize we need some help.
