July 14, 2021

NORTHWEST LOWER, MI— Healthcare employers from around northern Michigan can learn about apprenticeship programs at an information session Tuesday, August 3 online or in-person in Manistee. The information session will run from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with multiple sites participating around the state. The event is being hosted by Northwest Michigan Works!, in collaboration with GST Michigan Works!, Capital Area Michigan Works!, and Michigan Works! West Central.

This unique session will focus on healthcare apprenticeships and will include information about what an apprenticeship is, the process of developing a program, potential funding, and using apprenticeships to fill workforce gaps. An expert employer and apprentice panel will share their registered apprenticeship experience and answer questions about the practicality of the program. Healthcare occupations being explored will include CNA, Medical Assistant, Surgical Tech, Administrative and more!

For the most interactive experience employers are encouraged to meet in-person at the West Shore Community College Manistee Downtown Education Center located at 400 River Street. The program will also be offered virtually to those who are unable to attend in-person. Seating is limited and employers may register by emailing Evelyn.Szpliet@NetworksNorthwest.org. There is no charge to attend the information session.

Registered apprenticeships are offered through the U.S. Department of Labor and are a proven training method for employers to build a talent pipeline of highly skilled, educated employees. Northwest Michigan Works! provides technical assistance and administrative support for registered apprenticeships, including development and implementation guidance.
