Public Meetings During COVID-19

Each agency, local unit of government or organization is issuing their own protocols directing specific precautions due to the COVID-19 epidemic.  Effective February 22, 2022, Networks Northwest will no longer require staff to be masked in our common areas, nor will we recommend masking by visitors.  However, employees and visitors may still mask as they feel comfortable, and we will continue to offer masks at all of our entryways.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy

As part of our work with the Economic Development Administration (EDA), Networks Northwest updates the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) every five years. A CEDS is a strategy-driven plan for regional economic development and is the result of a regionally owned planning process designed to build capacity and guide the economic prosperity and resilience of an area or region.  While the CEDS was recently updated in 2021, it is reviewed annually with local economic development organizations.  Click here for more information.

Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Updates

Networks Northwest has been awarded two FY 2019 Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The first award is for the update of one tribal plan (for the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians) and seven county plans (for Antrim, Benzie, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, and Wexford counties). The second award is for the creation of a new tribal plan for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.

During the planning project period (2021-2023), Networks Northwest will work in partnership with each agency to prepare a total of nine natural hazard mitigation plans.

Additionally, a plan update for Grand Traverse County will be completed separately from these awards.
