active transportation user safety study: us-31 corridor, Oden / ponshewaing, emmet county

This study will provide design recommendations and implementation strategies to improve asset connectivity and safety for active transportation users (those who walk/run, bike or roll) within an approximate 2-mile stretch of the US-31 corridor, between the Oden State Fish Hatchery and the community of Ponshewaing.   The North Western State Trail, a popular recreation destination and key link in the Top of Michigan Trails system, is located on the north side of US-31.  Residences, recreation sites and local businesses are located on both sides of the road.  The project timeframe is June 2026 through December 2026.

Networks Northwest is fortunate to have received a $15,000 grant from the Hal and Gail Willens Family Fund and the Fund for the Community of the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation to support this project.  Funding has also been provided by the Oden-Ponshewaing Safety Committee.
