Youth Career Advisor - Traverse City

Northwest Michigan Works! is seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as a Youth Career Advisor in Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties. The Youth Career Advisor will help young adults create achievable career goals and support them as they make decisions and take action to realize those goals, while helping them overcome barriers to education and employment. Responsibilities include providing individualized mentoring and support, conducting evaluations, connecting participants with resources, providing case management, facilitating work-based learning experiences in group and classroom settings, leading workshops and informational sessions, building partnerships with clients, team members, community organizations, training providers, and agencies, and maintaining significant documentation and data entry in computer databases. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field and experience working with youth in an educational or human services setting. Candidates must have strong customer service, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; the ability to build effective collaborative relationships; comfort presenting to individuals and groups; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, social media, and other business software; and case management experience, including data entry and tracking. A valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive agency vehicles are required, along with a willingness to travel for program events and student activities. This is a full-time salaried position paying $46,800 per year and includes a comprehensive benefits package with employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance premiums; life insurance; an employer-paid deferred compensation retirement package; paid vacation and personal days; paid sick leave; and paid holidays.

Career Services Specialist - Manistee

Northwest Michigan Works! is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Career Services Specialist to join its team at the Manistee Service Center. This full-time position provides direct customer service and a wide range of career services to Northwest Michigan Works! customers, including assistance with job searches, résumés and cover letters, online applications, technology, and understanding the local labor market and employer expectations. The Career Services Specialist also connects customers with appropriate Northwest Michigan Works! programs and community resources while maintaining a high standard of customer service. Candidates should have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills; enjoy supporting and collaborating with others; and have a passion for helping customers and the local business community. An associate degree or equivalent experience and experience in education, human services, or a related field are preferred. Candidates should also be proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media, and other business software, with knowledge of local labor market conditions and employment practices preferred.

APEX Procurement Counselor

Networks Northwest is seeking a motivated and resourceful APEX Accelerator Procurement Counselor to join its regional team in Northwest Michigan. This full-time position provides direct counseling, training, and support to businesses seeking to identify, compete for, and successfully perform local, state, and federal government contracts. The Procurement Counselor will conduct government-focused market research, assist businesses with contracting opportunities, registrations and certifications, compliance requirements, and marketing strategies, while also helping plan and deliver training programs in partnership with government agencies, prime contractors, and regional organizations. The role offers the opportunity to work independently while collaborating with an experienced business development team and includes occasional travel throughout Michigan and beyond. Candidates should have strong communication, research, and organizational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and preferably an associate degree or equivalent experience and a background in business; government contracting experience is helpful but not required. A valid Michigan driver’s license and insurable driving record are required. The position offers a starting salary of $54,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; an employer-paid deferred compensation retirement plan; generous paid time off; and paid holidays.
