Open House at Newly Reopened Michigan Works! Center in Kalkaska


KALKASKA, MI –The Career Café inside the newly reopened Northwest Michigan Works! Center in Kalkaska will be showcased at an open house August 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The center had been closed since July 1, 2013 due to a reduction in federal funding. The Kalkaska Center will now be open Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Career Café is a new way of delivering job seeker services at Northwest Michigan Works!. Customers can select from a menu of services that will help them improve their résumés and cover letters, practice their interviewing skills, research career options, learn about education and training programs, and more. The Kalkaska Michigan Works! Center is located at 103 Third Street.The August 6 open house will include an award presentation at 2:00 p.m. to Michigan Works customer Aurora Weighman, a PATH program participant who is now working full-time in a permanent position that allows her to support her family. State Senator Darwin Booher will be on hand to present the award.
