TRAVERSE CITY, MI— Job seekers who would like to pursue a career in healthcare may be eligible to have some of their education and training funded through the Michigan Rural Enhanced Access to Careers in Healthcare (MiREACH) program. The program, available through Northwest Michigan Works!, is designed to alleviate healthcare industry workforce shortages in rural areas by creating sustainable employment and training programs in patient-facing healthcare occupations, including both medical and behavioral health occupations.

The MiREACH program is available to existing workers to be trained and promoted, unemployed workers, and underemployed workers. Services available include employment services, tuition assistance, and assistance with training supports.

Careers in healthcare and behavioral health that may qualify for funding include: Behavioral Health Counselors, Nurses, Social Workers, Medical and Clinical Laboratory Technologists, Radiologic and MRI Technologists, EMT & Paramedics, Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Pharmacists, Pharmacist Technicians, Surgical Technologists, Phlebotomists, Community Health Workers, and more.

MiREACH Funding is available now.

Funding for MiREACH is through the U.S. Department of Labor’s H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program which supports employment and training programs in healthcare occupations serving rural populations.
