FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 26, 2021

NORTHWEST LOWER, MI— All types and sizes of businesses from across northwest Lower Michigan are invited to an apprenticeship information session Friday, November 12 in Mancelona. The information session will run from noon – 1:30 pm at the Mancelona Township Hall, 9610 South M-88 Highway. The session is being hosted by Northwest Michigan Works! in partnership with the Mancelona Community Resource Development Team.

The session will include an overview of US Department of Labor registered apprenticeships, the process of developing a program, and using apprenticeships to fill workforce gaps. “This is the perfect opportunity to explore the benefits of registered apprenticeship for today’s changing talent profile and how the registration process has been simplified,” said Evelyn Szpliet, Regional Director of Apprenticeship Services for Northwest Michigan Works!

An expert employer apprenticeship panel including partners from MR Products, Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, and Wolf Line Construction will share their registered apprenticeship experience and answer questions about the practicality of the program.

All types of industries, union and non-union, small or large are encouraged to attend. There is no charge to attend the information session.  Seating is limited and RSVPs should be sent to Marie.Whitney@NetworksNorthwest.org.

Registered apprenticeships are offered through the U.S. Department of Labor and are a proven training method for employers to build a talent pipeline of highly skilled, educated employees. Northwest Michigan Works! provides technical assistance and administrative support for registered apprenticeships, including development and implementation guidance.
