Adult Education Program Celebrates Achievements of 74 Students
TRAVERSE CITY, MI—The Northwest Michigan Works! Adult Education program will honor 30 graduates receiving a high school diploma and 34 students who have completed the GED certificate at a commencement ceremony on Thursday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. at NMC’s Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City.
The adult education program serves the community by helping adult learners enter the workforce ready for success. “All of our adult learners have an individualized learning plan with goals directly related to employment,” says Christy Nelson, Adult Education Coordinator.
Adult education services are available through the cooperative efforts of the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD), Networks Northwest, and Northwest Michigan Works!. The program operates seven Learning Labs in Northwest Michigan and a high school completion program at the TBAISD Career-Tech Center. Adult Education Learning Lab programs are open year round and have daytime and evening hours. Participants may start at any time and can learn at their own pace.

The Networks Northwest team did a great job to help the City of Charlevoix and Charlevoix Township collaborate in addressing housing challenges in our community. They facilitated dialogue with Planning Commissioners, community stakeholders, and municipal officials to develop a plan for cohesive zoning in areas of growth for our two governments. Further, they were able to pinpoint the challenges in each unit and propose changes that would be beneficial all around. Together, we believe we'll be better prepared for housing developments and job growth in our region. We look forward to working with them on future projects!
