Veterans ID Day June 13 At Michigan Works in Traverse City

Veterans will be able to apply for their new U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID Card at a special event Wednesday, June 13 in Traverse City. The Veterans ID Day will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Northwest Michigan Works!, 1209 South Garfield. This is a free event and will include a hot dog lunch from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The new IDs are a safer, more convenient way to show proof of service to get hundreds of discounts on goods and services offered to veterans. These are durable, photo IDs that are easier to use than the DD-214 that veterans use now. Volunteers will be at the event to help veterans fill out the online ID card application, and take their photos. Veterans should bring a photo ID, like a driver’s license, and their DD-214.

While they’re at the event, veterans will also be able to tour the Vet Mobile Unit and learn about available services. The Veterans ID Day is being hosted by Northwest Michigan Works!, Northwestern Michigan College, Project Cherry Tree, and the Veterans Community Action Team (VCAT).
