Tom Stevens, Jr. has worked in the hospitality industry for much of his life but most of his jobs have been seasonal. So in the fall of 2012 Stevens moved from the Cheboygan/Petoskey area to Traverse City so he could try to find year round employment. He didn't have a job when he moved and says the first place he went when he got to Traverse City was the Northwest Michigan Works! Service Center.

"It's ten times better than going though the paper or all those different job search engines," said Stevens. "The professional staff helped me craft the perfect résumé and target what I really wanted to do with my time and talents."

Stevens says the staff at Northwest Michigan Works! did more than just help him with his résumé. He says they gave him the support and encouragement he needed during his job search.

"The staff members at Michigan Works! take personal concern and pride in all their clients," said Stevens. "That personal touch and focus on the individual was incredible."

The time Stevens spent at Michigan Works paid off when he saw a posting on the jobs board for openings at Incredible Mo's entertainment center in Grawn. Stevens says the help he received from Michigan Works boosted his confidence and helped him land a full-time job at Mo's. He says he's thankful for everything Michigan Works! did for him and has even written letters to his Senators and Congressman to let them know how important he thinks Michigan Works! services are.

"It's the one stop shop for everything you need to become a valuable worker," said Stevens. "If it wasn't for Michigan Works! I wouldn't be where I am today."
