State Representative Visits JMG Students in Traverse City

State Representative Larry Inman visited the TBA Career-Tech Center in Traverse City February 23 to learn about the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program being offered to some of the students there. Northwest Michigan Works! is partnering with the TBAISD to provide JMG to 44 students in the Career-Tech Center's Automotive Technology program. JMG helps young adults graduate and make successful transitions to postsecondary education or meaningful employment by offering mentoring, job readiness and leadership development skills, and work experience.

Representative Inman talked with the students about the importance of skilled trades and high tech jobs. He also discussed future funding for JMG and said he would like to have some of the students come to Lansing to share their stories with the School Aid Education Committee.

Along with the program at TBA, Northwest Michigan Works! also coordinates JMG programs at the Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District, the Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center, and  Career Readiness programs at Northwest Michigan Works! in Kalkaska and Manistee.
