Starting a Business Workshop - Manistee

The Starting a Business Workshop is intended for individuals in the beginning stages of starting a business, in need of accessing capital, or simply considering self-employment. Delivered in a workshop format, this introductory session helps aspiring entrepreneurs assess their abilities to lead and manage a company, as well as evaluate market and sales potential for their products/services. This comprehensive 2.5 hour workshop also incorporates the SBDC’s fundamental Writing a Business Plan workshop and fully covers topics such as determining concept feasibility, startup costs, financing options, the basics of business planning, along with other necessary resources to launch. The workshop is held in partnership with Baker College of Cadillac, is co-hosted by the Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce, features instruction by an SBDC Certified Small Business Consultant Joni Krolczyk, and is a pre-requisite to meeting with an SBDC consultant one-on-one. There is no cost to attend; however, pre-registration is required. The workshop is being held at the Manistee County Education Center at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital, 1465 East Parkdale (US-31). Complying with DoD Cybersecurity Requirements - Chew On This Web Seminar

Businesses who work with the Department of Defense (DoD) must meet cybersecurity requirements outlined in Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (“DFARS”) clause 252.204-7012, “Safeguarding Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting”. Understanding and addressing these requirements are critical for DoD contractors and especially small businesses. It’s not just about contract compliance – Cyber Compliance is good business and may become a competitive discriminator in bidding future opportunities with the government.
This webinar will feature an instructional video produced specifically to help contractors understand and comply with the DoD cybersecurity requirements. A template and other resources will be made available to assist with documenting compliance and developing the required security assessment report, system security plan, and action plans.
