An Introduction to New Coastal Dunes Data and Guidebook for Coastal Resiliency Planning in NW Michigan

WEBINAR SCHEDULE*
February 28, 2017
10:00 - 11:30 AM

The Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) and Networks Northwest have developed new coastal dunes data and a planning guidebook to support coastal resiliency planning in Northwest Michigan.  Please join us for one of two webinars for an introduction to:

Dunes Data and Mapping Resources—After mapping all of the coastal dunes located in the Northwest Michigan in 2016, MNFI is making this new coastal dunes data available online through the ArcGIS online web map application and an online Story Map. The webinar will demonstrate the utility of the online portal and its geospatial data layers and story maps, which include data on different types of dunes, their location, the relative size of aggregated dune systems, and the ownership patterns of each dune system.

Land Use Policy Guidebook—When planning for and implementing coastal resiliency measures, land use policy is among the most powerful tool available to local units of government. Networks Northwest will introduce the new guidebook, which focuses on coastal resilience planning and zoning issues and techniques.
