Streamlining the Zoning Ordinance Workshop Offered in Traverse City, Boyne City, and Manistee in September
Streamlining the Zoning Ordinance Workshop
Presented by Michigan State University Extension and Northwest Michigan Council of Governments
Zoning ordinances are not the simplest documents to read and navigate. Although zoning standards need to be specific and contain the necessary information to be enforceable, they don’t have to be intimidating documents that are frustrating for zoning officials, residents, and developers to use.
One way to streamline a zoning ordinance is to change zoning policies and eliminate specific standards. This workshop, though, will focus on other approaches:
-
Clear and non-redundant ordinance organization
-
Effective use of charts and illustrations
- Technology tools to improve access and navigability.
This workshop is being offered in Traverse City, Boyne City, and Manistee. Completion of this workshop qualifies for 3 Master Citizen Planner credits. Register early to receive the discounted early bird rates!
