Story Maps from the U.S. Census Bureau Illustrate County Population Change
The U.S. Census Bureau today released two interactive thematic maps on population change.
“These ‘Story Maps’ provide insight on emerging trends in population change across the country,” said Jason Devine of the Census Bureau’s Population Division.
The first map shows the difference a decade has made in population change patterns in metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas. This is possible through swiping between a map covering the 2002-2003 period and the other 2012-2013.
The second map shows the extent of population growth in each county between 2012 and 2013 and identifies the primary source of that population change (such as natural increase or net migration). These maps use software from Esri.
Our Township greatly benefits from Network Northwest's experience, depth of knowledge and understanding. Because they work with so many diverse communities in our ten-county region they understand the local land-use issues and are already working on solutions by the time we realize we need some help.
