PILOT Workshop - Traverse City

Understanding PILOTs: What local governments should know about Payments in Lieu of Taxes

As the housing market rebounds and interest grows in developing affordable housing, tax incentives known as “payments in lieu of taxes” (PILOT) are becoming regular discussion topics at village council and city commission meetings in Northwest Michigan. PILOTs come with many questions for local governments: how do they work? What are the impacts on the community? Why might a community consider granting one? Are there alternatives?

Housing experts and local government representatives will discuss these questions and more in an interactive workshop coordinated by the Northwest Michigan Housing Solutions Network. Local governments are invited to attend FREE workshops on Wednesday, June 8 at:

TRAVERSE CITY
9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Governmental Center Training Room (2nd Floor)
400 Boardman Ave., Traverse City

Please RSVP to Elizabeth Calcutt at ecalcutt@networksnorthwest.org or 231-929-5048.
