Networks Northwest Working to Update Manistee County Park & Recreation Plan
January 26, 2021
The Networks Northwest Community Development team, at the request of Manistee County, recently began the collaborative process of bringing together all 21 units of government in the county for an update to the County-Wide Park & Recreation Plan. The plan was the first of its kind when developed in 2016 and includes Manistee County, the City of Manistee, five Villages, and 14 Townships.
The Community Development team is exploring how to further improve the flow of the document, while meeting the needs of the community through expansion of the recreation inventory and the establishment and updating of goals. When it is completed the document will meet eligibility for all 21 units of government within Manistee County as an approved State of Michigan 5-year Park and Recreation Plan.

The Networks Northwest team did a great job to help the City of Charlevoix and Charlevoix Township collaborate in addressing housing challenges in our community. They facilitated dialogue with Planning Commissioners, community stakeholders, and municipal officials to develop a plan for cohesive zoning in areas of growth for our two governments. Further, they were able to pinpoint the challenges in each unit and propose changes that would be beneficial all around. Together, we believe we'll be better prepared for housing developments and job growth in our region. We look forward to working with them on future projects!
