Mentoring Breakfast Hosted by Traverse Bay PRI on May 1
Traverse Bay Poverty Reduction Initiative (PRI) is hosting its fourth annual free Mentoring Breakfast on Wednesday, May 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Faith Reformed Church, 1139 East Front Street in Traverse City.
This year, the focus is to provide useful information and education for all area non-profits offering mentoring services. Breakout sessions will be facilitated by experts in the community and will cover these topics: Marketing, Funding, Mentoring Best Practices, and Social Media.
The Traverse Bay Poverty Reduction Initiative is a community-driven, collaborative effort to reduce poverty in the Traverse Bay region. The program was born out of the Poverty Summit, held in 2004 when 225 area residents joined together to address the issue of poverty in the area. PRI is a collaborative of representatives of local businesses, non-profits, public and government agencies, as well as concerned citizens.
PRI has discovered the most important tool to reduce poverty is to provide mentors to families in need. All area non-profit mentoring organizations are invited to attend this free breakfast to learn more about ways they can assist children, adults and families in their area. To find out more information or sign up to attend the breakfast, go to: http://www.goodwillnmi.org/mentoring or call 947-3200 Ext. 209 to register for the event.
