Detroit Three, Tier 1 suppliers join together for first ever state-sponsored PMBC matchmaking summit
July 22 at Cobo Center, Detroit

Application period open now through June 20 for Michigan businesses

Pure Michigan Business Connect is partnering with Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company, General Motors and 42 Tier 1 suppliers to host an invitation-only supplier summit on Tuesday, July 22 at Cobo Center in Detroit.

“Michigan’s automotive industry is roaring back, and this matchmaking summit is a unique opportunity for Michigan suppliers to tap into the comeback of this vital industry and find their niche in the automotive supply chain,” said Gov. Rick Snyder. “We commend Chrysler, Ford, GM and their Tier 1 partners for their commitment to working with Michigan suppliers and growing our economy.”

Hosted by Pure Michigan Business Connect, a Michigan Economic Development Corporation program, and the Detroit Regional Chamber, this invitation-only summit will help Michigan companies gain procurement opportunities with the Detroit Three automakers and 42 of their Tier 1 suppliers. The participating companies have provided more than 400 procurement needs for which they are committed to finding and qualifying Michigan suppliers. Businesses from around the state will be invited to attend pre-arranged, exclusive purchaser-supplier matchmaking engagements at the summit.

The procurement needs can be viewed at Michigan companies interested in attending must complete the online application and identify their qualifications based on the needs listed. Each application will be reviewed, and invitations will be sent to those companies that are the best fit for the specific opportunities. Each invited company will receive at least one private meeting to discuss potential opportunities with one of the procurement teams present at the summit.

Priority Deadline:

The priority deadline to apply is June 20, 2014. All applicants will be notified by July 3 whether or not they have been selected to participate. Applications received after that date will only be considered if there are needs that have not been addressed through the initial application window.

“This matchmaking summit will give Michigan companies opportunities with the Detroit automakers and their key suppliers that they might not otherwise have,” said MEDC President and CEO Michael A. Finney. “We estimate that since Pure Michigan Business Connect launched, the program has facilitated $1.7 billion in revenue for Michigan companies, and that translates into approximately 8,500 jobs created across the state. This supplier summit, with more than 400 procurement needs, will mean even more growth opportunities for Michigan businesses.”

Launched in 2011, Pure Michigan Business Connect is a public-private alliance of the MEDC, state agencies and major Michigan companies and organizations that connects in-state companies to business resources. Companies can find new ways to raise capital, get access to professional business services at little or no cost, connect with each other through a new business-to-business network, and identify potential supplier opportunities, while developing resources to improve their supply chains.
