Bill Marsh Auto Recognized for Supporting Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates
The Bill Marsh Auto Group has received the first-ever Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) Employer of the Month award. The JMG Employer of the Month initiative, launched in December of 2019, honors employers who have a history of outstanding engagement with the JMG program. The award celebrates employers who understand that investment of time and resources in Michigan’s youth is a win-win for all.
Bill Marsh became involved with JMG when Northwest Michigan Works! began offering the program to Automotive Technology students at the Traverse Bay Area ISD Career-Tech Center. Since then, Bill Marsh has provided valuable work experience for JMG students along with opportunities for full-time positions and summer jobs. Bill Marsh employees have also come into the classroom as guest speakers, assisted in mock interview days, and hosted a sit-down, one-on-one event to help students learn about careers in the automotive industry.
“In our industry, there’s a growing need for technicians,” said Rich King, Bill Marsh Auto Group Operations Director. “We realized years ago that we need to get to the high school students and encourage those kids...to come experience a job work program and potentially come to work here.”
”We appreciate Bill Marsh's continued partnership and their commitment to ensuring youth are aware of the great career opportunities out there in the automotive industry,” said Susan Ward, JMG Manager at Northwest Michigan Works!
JMG’s mission is to equip young people with the skills to overcome barriers and succeed in education, employment, and in life. Northwest Michigan Works! coordinates JMG programs at Cadillac Public and Innovation High Schools, CASMAN Academy in Manistee, Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District, the Traverse Bay Area ISD Career-Tech Center, the Wexford-Missaukee Career-Tech Center, and Out of School programs in Cadillac, Kalkaska, Manistee, and Traverse City.
