Benzie County Parks and Recreation Railroad Point Natural Area Draft Management Plan Available for Review

The Benzie County Parks and Recreation would like to give the community the opportunity to review and comment on the draft management plan for the Railroad Point Natural Area.  The Railroad Point Natural Area, owned and managed by Benzie County, is over 200 acres with frontage on Crystal Lake and the main parking lot, located off Mollineaux Road.

The Parks and Recreation Commissioners along with the Railroad Point Natural Area Sub-Committee will consider suggestions from the public in writing by October 28, 2013, or in person on October 28, 2013 at 5 PM in the Commissioner’s Room, Government Center, 448 Court Place, Beulah, Michigan.  Suggested management goals and activities must be in keeping with the Benzie County Recreational and Cultural Master Plan and the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant guidelines, the largest funder of the Railroad Point park expansion project.

You can review a copy of the draft management plan for Railroad Point Natural Area here, or paper copies available for review at the clerk’s office at the Benzie County Government Center or you can purchase a copy.

Written comments will be received until October 28, 2013 and can be emailed to or mailed to the Benzie County Parks and Recreation Commission, 448 Court Place, Beulah, MI 49617.

Our Township greatly benefits from Network Northwest's experience, depth of knowledge and understanding. Because they work with so many diverse communities in our ten-county region they understand the local land-use issues and are already working on solutions by the time we realize we need some help.
