Adult Career-Training Open House December 18 in Traverse City

The Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Career-Tech Center (TBAISD CTC), in partnership with Northwest Michigan Works and the Adult Education Program, will hold an open house, Tuesday, December 18, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the Career-Tech Center, 880 Parson Road, in Traverse City. Adults interested in GED/high school completion and introductory training in automotive technology, culinary arts, and welding are encouraged and invited to attend. The Michigan Department of Education awarded TBAISD with a grant for adult education and skilled trades training, designed to improve wage earning potential for adults 18 and older.

Skills Up North is an adult career-training program developed through a partnership between TBAISD Career-Tech Center and Northwest Michigan Works Adult Education Program. Participants can utilize this training at no cost. In an effort to help adults earn a GED/high school diploma and gain specific technical skills sought by area employers, Skills Up North was designed to help individuals experience success in a dedicated career pathway. Training provided will be approximately 120 hours in a designated pathway over the course of four months.

Guests at the open house will be able to meet representatives from collaborating agencies to discuss eligibility criteria. Enrollment information is available through Northwest Michigan Works Adult Education at 231-922-3761.  Individuals may also contact Joe Parent, Adult Education Navigator, at 231-922-7826 or jparent@tbaisd.org
