This webpage contains all of the most recent information, resources, and documentation for the Village of Central Lake Master Plan/Recreation Plan Development Process. A community Master Plan is a policy document that guides land-use decisions and zoning ordinance regulation standards. The Recreation component of the plan will guide the community in its prioritization of parks and recreation projects in the near and long-term. Additionally, the State of Michigan's Department of Natural Resources requires municipalities to have a 5-year recreation plan on file with the state to be eligible for various funding opportunities. These include funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund and Waterways grants. The completed document will delve into all aspects of the community from transportation and economic development to rural protection and agriculture.
The development of the Village of Central Lake Master Plan is occurring over a twelve to fourteen-month period from the winter of 2022 until the spring of 2023. The planning process will incorporate public input from surveys, direct contact with residents/visitors, and communication at public input sessions to be scheduled during the process timeframe. A Notice of Intent to Plan, as required by the Michigan Planning Enabling Act - Act 33 of 2008, was sent out to all required governmental and public utility entities on 2/24/2022.
The Village of Central Lake Planning Commission is the appointed body that is charged with guiding the Master Plan/Recreation Plan Process and development of the document. Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and residents and visitors are encouraged to attend and participate. Information on Planning Commission meetings and agendas can be found at the following website: https://centrallakemi.org/government/planning-commission/
