Jobs for Vets! Hiring Event 2015
Jobs for Vets! 2015 was a scheduled hiring fair for veterans held on March 24th. Organizers sought out businesses that were looking to hire men and women who have served in the military. The event was held at the Hagerty Conference Center of Northwestern Michigan College. 55 employers participated in the event and 158 veterans attended.
Organizers say veterans tend to bring a skill set that is beneficial for business. While veterans have a lot to contribute to a business, they tend to have a higher unemployment rate than the general population. Jobs For Vets Hiring Event aims to reverse that trend.
Jobs For Vets was organized by the Northwestern Michigan College Veterans Services Office, Northwest Michigan Works! Career Café, and Bill Marsh Auto Group. The Traverse Area Human Resources Association is a supporting organization. VFW Post 2780, Northwest Consumer Federal Credit Union, Fox Motors, Jimmy John's, Britten Banner, and the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa made financial contributions in support of the event.
