Northern Michigan Students Receive Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Scholarships

Four students who participated in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program coordinated by Northwest Michigan Works! are each receiving $1,000 JMG Scholarships that will help them continue their education. Sawyer Keene, an 8th grader from Mackinaw Trail Middle School in Cadillac, will use his scholarship to attend iD Tech Camp in Ann Arbor this summer. Madeline Stange, who graduated this year from Cadillac High School, will use her scholarship when she attends Johnson and Wales University this fall to study Baking and Pastry Arts. Abby Kovasevich, who also graduated from Cadillac High School this year, will use her scholarship when she attends Grand Valley State University this fall to study sales. Daydreana Davis, a 2022 graduate of CASMAN Academy in Manistee, will use her scholarship when she attends Baker College in Muskegon this fall to study Baking and Pastry Arts.

The mission of JMG is to equip students with the skills to overcome barriers and succeed in education, employment, and in life. The scholarships focus on the education piece of the JMG mission; to support students who show a demonstrated interest in upskilling themselves through training.

In addition to Mackinaw Trail Middle School, Cadillac High School, and CASMAN Academy, Northwest Michigan Works! also coordinates JMG programs at Cadillac Innovation High School, Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District, the North Ed Career-Tech Center, the Wexford-Missaukee Career-Tech Center, and a college program at Northwestern Michigan College.
