Career Connection Provides Ongoing Help For Kalkaska Area Job Seekers

KALKASKA, MI –Job seekers are learning about job opportunities and improving their job search skills by getting involved with the Kalkaska Career Connection. The group meetings give local residents continued access to valuable job search resources and are a new way of providing services following the recent closure of the Northwest Michigan Works! Kalkaska Service Center.

“With the closure of the Kalkaska Service Center we are working hard to make services available to the Kalkaska community and Career Connection is a great way to do that,” said Janie McNabb, Northwest Michigan Works! chief operating officer. “Job seekers can learn about job opportunities and connect with staff for help in their job search.”

The Kalkaska Career Connection includes opportunities for participants to develop their résumé writing and interview skills. There are also guest speakers who focus on different job search related topics. The information helps job seekers target their job search based on what employers are looking for.

The next Career Connection meeting is Tuesday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Kalkaska Michigan Works! Learning Lab building, 103 Third Street. This meeting will teach job seekers how to sell themselves to an employer. Attendees should use the north conference room entrance. The meeting is open to all job seekers and there is no charge to attend. Additional meetings will be held every other Tuesday at the same time and location.
