Career Connection Coming to Michigan Works! in Manistee

 

MANISTEE, MI –Job seekers will have the chance to learn about job opportunities and improve their job search skills by getting involved with the new Manistee Career Connection. The first meeting will be Monday, October 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Manistee Michigan Works! Service Center located at 1660 US 31 South.

 

“The Manistee Career Connection presents an open forum opportunity for job seekers to meet and network regarding employment opportunities in our area,” said Ron Heffelfinger, Northwest Michigan Works! Business Liaison. “The meetings will be hosted by Michigan Works! professional staff who will provide valuable insight regarding hiring trends and current job openings. They will also help participants prepare for their next job.”

 

The October 28 Manistee Career Connection will focus on “Job Search Strategies.” Topics to be discussed include networking options, use of the internet in job searches, and preparing a résumé and cover letter to land an interview.  The meeting is open to all job seekers and there is no charge to attend. The group will typically meet once a month. Similar Career Connection groups meet on a regular basis in Cadillac, Elk Rapids, Kalkaska and Traverse City.
