TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Job seekers will have an opportunity to gain skills for high-demand jobs at a Construction Laborer Training class organized by Northwest Michigan Works!. The class is being offered at Northwestern Michigan College’s (NMC) Aero Park Lab in Traverse City June 13 through June 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
Employers in northwest Michigan are looking for people with construction skills, and are eager to hire successful candidates who complete this training. The hands-on, short-term training is being offered through NMC and will include basic construction skills, CPR and first aid, and 10 hours of MIOSHA training.
Tuition and required materials for the training are free to eligible Michigan Works! customers. Transportation assistance to and from classes is also available.

The Construction Laborer Training is part of the "Just in Time" training offered through Northwest Michigan Works!. The program offers short-term, intensive occupational training opportunities to unemployed and underemployed adults. Each “Just in Time” training session is designed to meet the immediate hiring needs of local employers; the curriculum is uniquely targeted to teach the most in-demand skills.
